There are three different Bissell Cleanview Helix vacuum cleaner models. The cheapest is 82H1 while the most expensive is 21K3. There is also a mid-of-the-road model called 22C1. The most popular of the models is 82H1.
Bissell Cleanview Helix 82H1 is powered by a 12-amp motor and it uses the spiral separation screw to remove dirt and dust from the air flow. It comes with several tools, including an extension plate, a combination damper / stopcoat and a TurboBrush for efficient cleaning of stairs and upholstery. 82H1 is a fairly heavy vacuum that weighs about 20 kg and several consumers have noted this in their comments. Bissell indicates that the unit is effective on both the carpet and the floor. Five different matte height settings allow the vacuum to easily transition between floor types and it also comes with dual edge cleaning to enable vacuuming near the floor.
Cleanview Helix 82H1 comes with HEPA filtration which is an excellent feature for people suffering from allergies or asthma. HEPA stands for high efficiency particle air and it is a very effective type of air filtration that removes 99.97% of all particles with a diameter of 0.3 micron or more. In your average household, this would include such as dust, pollen, dust mite feces and pets. The HEPA filter on the 82H1 is the after-motor and it must be replaced (not washable) when it becomes too dirty.
This is a bag-free vacuum cleaner and as such has a dirt container that needs to be emptied. Bissell calls this an easy empty dirt container but there are some comments from the consumers that it is not so easy to empty. Bagless vacuums are very popular and, unlike a vacuum cleaner, they do not require you to buy or throw bags.
The brush roller system in 82H1 contains two rows of rotating brushes, but there are no switches. Some vacuum cleaners provide an on / off switch for the brush part because it is often preferred to turn it off when sucking up sensitive surfaces. Bissell Cleanview Helix 82H1 has one year warranty.
Consumer comments and ratings for 82H1 were found on sites like Amazon, Sears and Target. Ratings are pretty good with multiple sites indicating an average of 4 out of 5 stars or better. Those who bought the vacuum resembled the strong suction and often commented that their carpets looked very clean after being vacuumed with 82H1. It was also praised for its ability to pick up animal hair quite well. The HEPA filtering was considered by many to be a good feature and it seems that the filter itself does not need to be replaced too often. Although there were some people who would have preferred a washable filter.
A number of those who bought Bissell Cleanview Helix 82H1 were impressed with how easy it was to mount. Mounting means that a hose is turned into place and rotates in a screw. The power cord is 27 meters long and several consumers commented on the fact that this long cord made vacuuming easier because of less frequent plug-in changes. Even the cost of the vacuum was considered very reasonable. Many thought it was a good deal.
However, there were a number of complaints indicating that the vacuum hose is too short. This is a flexible hose and is fully extended to about 75 inches, but when you try to extend it, the vacuum often pulls over. There was also concern about the slightly empty dirt container that was not so easy to empty. Several consumers stated that emptying the canister was a messy deal and they suggested that it be carefully removed and emptied outside.
Another common complaint was that the filters kept under the dirt container often required cleaning. And failure to clean them resulted in limited vacuum suction. It should be noted that this vacuum does not have a clean filter indicator so it is up to the user to regularly check and clean the filters. The brush bar cannot be turned off on this machine either, so care must be taken when using the hose connections. The brush bar continues to spin when the attachments are used and it can carry on the carpet. A consumer showed that it is best to set the vacuum to the highest height setting when using attachments to stop the brushes from contacting the floor.
